Bombay Brides

Christian weddings in India's biggest city

Why a site for Bombay Brides?

Hello and a warm welcome to you!

This is a wedding blog, and what it does best is provide helpful information about Christian weddings in Mumbai and surrounding regions.

Why only Christian weddings and why only Mumbai, you ask?

I’m sure you have landed on this blog as a result of many frustrated online searches for various wedding vendors and bridal specialists in the Mumbai area. A plethora of options exist both online and offline for the Hindu or Muslim bride and there are a number of beautiful websites catering to brides from both these communities.

Regrettably, Christian brides are a minority and word-of-mouth is the primary means of finding information about the best tailors, florists, caterers, etc.

Word-of-mouth however, is of no use when you are in a fix for time and need to look up information online before you step out of home to hunt it out.

Having found myself similarly frustrated while planning my own wedding, I started Plan ‘M’ – a blog that would help me document the resources I used.

As I went about my efforts, I noticed a remarkable number of brides contacting me for the best places to shop for their wedding, requesting me for numbers of bridal tailors and so on. Plan ‘M’ now has a strong East Indian focus and since I wanted to speak about weddings in other communities, I decided a separate blog would be best.

With Bombay Brides, I hope to take this curation of Christian wedding specialists in Mumbai a step further. Thanks to a lovely network of friends who are constantly bridesmaiding, best-manning, shopping, planning and advising on Christian weddings, I get to know first-hand about what worked best for a wedding and what did not.

With the help of the beautiful, resourceful brides featured here, I hope this blog helps you plan your wedding better.

Below, you will find a helpful guide to the various sections on this blog.

This blog has two menus – to the left is the main navigation menu, listing:

Modern Brides – Articles on modern brides featured on this site.

Vintage Weddings – Articles and photos about weddings from the old days.

Bridal Vendors – Articles about various bridal service providers like caterers, floral artists, tailors, photographers, etc. in Mumbai.

Essential Reading – Articles related to various aspects of an Indian Christian wedding with a strong focus on weddings in Mumbai.

Glossary – lists words from Indian languages/dialects that have been tagged with the + symbol in various posts.

Contact Me – My email address.

To the right is a menu listing helpful information that can be found on the blog:

Header Images – Relays information on the various design elements/artwork featured on this site.

Wish to Feature Here? – Relays information for those who wish to speak about their services or share their special day with readers.

Need Help Browsing? – Relays important information on content use and sharing. Please read it to use the Bombay Brides service responsibly.

In addition to these menus, you will find the tag cloud further down the left sidebar particularly useful to browse the blog according to tags/topic.

At the bottom of the blog page you will find links to my other projects. If you can’t find an answer to your question in the Need Help Browsing page, I invite you to get in touch with me by emailing me at the address provided in the Contact Me page.

Thank you for visiting.

Love,
Reena Almeida

hey, a very offbeat and different wedding blog here. Its so common to see hindu brides and muslims as well but not something so dedicated to christian community. glad i stumbled upon it while browsing. would love to see more vendor additions..

    cheers!

Hello and welcome to Bombay Brides. Glad you enjoyed browsing through the blog. We add vendors as we review them and the process is a bit slow for now (as we have just settled into the groove of things), but hope to change that soon!
